What is an Ice Maker?

Ice Maker is a machine designed to automatically produce ice for homes, offices, restaurants, and commercial businesses. Unlike traditional ice from freezer trays, ice makers can create ice quickly and continuously with minimal efforts. Mostly ice maker comes without refrigerator, so the ice melted has been send back to the evaporator for refreezing and the circle continuous until no water remains in the bucket or the ice maker is turned off.
How does an Ice Maker works?
Ice Maker works when coolant also called as refrigerant runs from compressor where it is compressed into highly pressurized and hot gas and then moves to condenser where heat exchange occurs and heat is released in the atmosphere. After that from the condenser coolant in the form of high pressure liquid enters the expansion valve where it turn into a liquid-vapor state and moves towards the final destination, the evaporator. Evaporators are of different kind depends on which type of ice has to be made it can be a thin sheet of metal for nugget or flake ice, or simple metal rods or pins for bullet ice. Once the ice is formed, the harvest cycle begins in which a temporary heat has been served to the evaporator so the frozen ice can be easily dislodged and collected in a tray, which then delivers it to the storage bucket.
Refrigerator Ice Vs Ice Maker Ice: What’s the Difference?
In Refrigerator, traditional system used to make ice, Water is manually filled in trays and then settled in refrigerator for hours after that you will get few irregular shape of ice cubes. Whereas, in Ice maker ice has been made much easily within minutes and it produce ice on much larger scale as compare to that on Refrigerator. In Ice Maker Water is usually filled in large reservoir or a continuous supply of Water is connected to the ice machine, and as the button turns on within minutes ice of every kind Nuggets or Pebble ice, Bullet ice, soft and chewy is made without any hassle.

Commercial ice maker are of different types and can produce ice including nugget ice, cubed ice, gourmet ice, flake ice and crescent ice. It can make ice ranging from 70 lbs to 3000 lbs in upto 24 hours session. It works by pumping a contnuos supply of water into chilled high-nickel stainless steel evaporator plate. The continuous movement of water prevents impurities from freezing into the ice. Once, the ice is formed the machine automatically runs hot water or gas just to lose the ice so that it can easily dislodge into the collector bin. The bin is made up of food grade material with heavy insulation so that ice can stay long before turning to water. The melted ice in the form of water has been drained out by a pipe connected to the storage bin.
